Wonderful Music To Suit All Tastes At FCC!

Music at FCC Rochester

Groups

Resurrection Brass

Under the direction of Bruce Young

Resurrection Brass rehearses every Wednesday evening from 6:30 – 7:30 P.M., in the conference room, and plays every six weeks in a Sunday worship service.  This adult brass group plays Christmas Carols before the Rochester Christmas Choir Concert, and present “Brassapalooza” in February.  Our brass ensemble is made up of high school age brass players and above.

Alleluia Ringers

Under the direction of Bob Sheldrick

Alleluia Ringers have been a staple in First Congregational Church for over 25 years!  Alleluia rehearses every Wednesday evening from 6:30 – 7:30 P.M., in the main bell room, and plays every six weeks in service.  Bells were introduced at FCC in the late 60’s, and some of our ringers have been playing since they were children.  The Alleluia Ringers form our adult hand bell group.

Sanctuary Choir

Under the direction of Alan Lollar

Sanctuary Choir is the adult vocal choir and nobody knows how long the choir has been around – it’s been forever!  The choir rehearses on Wednesday evening from 7:30 – 9:00 P.M., in the choir room, and sings in two or three worship services each month.  In the spring, Sanctuary Choir puts on a Cabaret, with lots of fun and frivolity.

God’s Peal

Under the direction of Karen Mitchell

God’s Peal is a small group of more advanced hand bell ringers, who perform duets, trios and small ensemble pieces.  Although there is no set rehearsal time or performance schedule, God’s Peal rehearses sporadically throughout the year and play when a special piece is ready.

CrossWords

Under the direction of Abbie Goerg

CrossWords is FCC’s Praise Band, open to those in high school and above.  If you play guitar, drums, bass guitar, or keyboard or like to sing contemporary music, CrossWords may be the place for you.  CrossWords meet on Friday nights at 8:00 P.M., and the band plays the 11:00 A.M. service three times a month.

Pray’se Choir

Under the direction of Alan Lollar

The Pray’se Choir is also a contemporary choir, but instead of live instrumentalist, this choir uses CD for accompaniment.  The Pray’se Choir only sings once or twice a month, and rehearses some Wednesday evenings at 6:30 P.M. and some Sunday mornings at 10:00 A.M.  If you are looking for a small commitment, this may be the choir for you.

JazzKatz

Under the direction of Bruce Young

The JazzKatz is our Dixieland Jazz Ensemble that can be heard in our church for special events and also out in our community for special events like the CROP Walk!  Anyone interested in participating should be at least a high school age band student with some experience in swing!  Rehearsals are as needed, and performances vary throughout the year.

Jubilation Ringers

Under the direction of Bob Sheldrick

The Jubilation Ringers or “Jubes” as they are more commonly known are our youth hand bell group.  The Jubes are made up of youth from 6th grade to 12th graders.  They are taught how to ring multiple bells, using multiple ringing techniques.  The Jubes rehearse on Wednesday nights from 8:00 - 9:00 P.M. and play once a month in our worship services.  No prior hand bell experience is necessary.

Youth Vocal Choir

Under the direction of Bob Sheldrick

The Youth Vocal Choir is, like the Jubilation Ringers, composed of youth from the 6th to the 12th grades.  They rehearse on Wednesday nights from 7:30 – 8:00 P.M. and sing in services about once a month.  No prior singing experience is necessary.
